Mohringer IS75 Installation

by | Dec 14, 2022 | Uncategorized

We recently completed a major upgrade at one of our client’s mills, replacing an aging Linck E-Type frame saw with a new Mohringer IS75. This installation marked a significant step forward in cutting efficiency, precision, and overall productivity.

The Mohringer IS75 comes fully assembled from the factory, complete with its base plate, flywheel, and conrods. Designed for heavy-duty performance, the machine offers a 750 mm passage width and height, an optimised feed system, and a maximum feed speed of 18 m/min. At 16.5 tons, it’s a substantial piece of equipment built for serious throughput.

Foundation Modifications

Before installation, extensive civil work was required.

Our team removed the original Linck pedestal, core-drilled eight new foundation bolt holes, and cast a new pedestal specifically engineered to support the Mohringer frame saw. These modifications ensured the machine would operate on a stable, precision-aligned base.

A Challenging Rigging Operation

One of the most complex aspects of this project was the machine lift. Due to the building layout, a mobile heavy-duty crane could not access the roof for a conventional lift. Instead, the IS75 had to be rigged in using crawlers and rail systems, then raised into vertical position over the foundation using specialised gantry equipment.

This method required meticulous planning, careful coordination, and highly skilled rigging work—but the operation was executed safely and successfully.

Final Alignment & Commissioning

Once in position, the machine was lined up, levelled, and grouted using quick-drying cement. Commissioning followed in the first week of January, including operator training and full maintenance instruction for the onsite team.

Despite the scale and complexity of the project, the entire installation— including removal of the old machine —was completed in under four weeks.

Performance Test

The installation concluded with a successful performance test, during which the IS75 processed a 240 mm cant at a feed speed of 9 m/min—a strong indicator of the improved efficiency the client can expect going forward.
